GLOBAL VR Introduces Championship Edition III
May 18, 2004--SAN JOSE, Calif., -- With the release of EA SPORTS™ PGA TOURŪ GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP EDITION III, video golf will finally have a method for ranking skill levels. World Tour is a new mode of play that simulates the handicapping system used in real golf.
"In the past, golf games haven't had enough courses to make it possible to implement an effective handicapping system. As we have sought to expand the number of courses available, it has made it possible to establish a means for players at all levels to compete," says Product Marketing Director, Wes Harris. In order to determine a handicap, players must complete all 19 courses.
The new mode of play provides another means for video golfers to qualify for the GLOBAL VR North American Championship to be held November 12-14 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The top 36 World Tour players who post the best score on all courses, may compete for a portion of the $100,000 prize pool at the 2004 Championship.
As if a new play mode designed to increase tournament play isn't enough, EA SPORTS™ PGA TOURŪ CHAMPIONSHIP EDITION III also introduces four new courses-two real and two fantasy. Coeur d'Alene, with its famed, floating green, and KapaluaT, home of the prestigious Mercedes Championships, will rapidly become familiar favorites for real course play. New fantasy course, Red Mountain Creek, invites players to explore Australia with greens that flow among etched mountain hillsides and molded rock formations. Fantasy course, Emerald Dragon, is shrouded in a Japanese garden-like setting with colorful foliage that becomes more vivid as the player approaches.
CHAMPIONSHIP EDITION III will ship, free to all tournament-connected EA SPORTS™ PGA TOURŪ GOLF games, in late May. Tournaments will be suspended from May 30-June 6 to give operators time to update cabinets. Operators needing more information on EA SPORTS™ PGA TOURŪ GOLF or other GLOBAL VR products should call their local distributor, or send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org
